He did not beat the daylights out of BJ. It's debateable he even won that fight.

Cro Cop is fighter of the year. He mauled the OWGP, and Nog arguably won that fight. Meanwhile, Barnett was also having fits with Nastula. Fedor was injured for quite some time, leaving fighter of the year bragging rights to Cro Cop.
