Stop discrediting Pride Shockwave!

I've been seeing threads on here where people have been putting down the next Pride event because both Crocop and Fedor (toe injury?) were out of the card and said it was worthless and not even worth buying.

But this is probably one of the most star studded Pride cards this whole year, its combining both upper and lower (Bushido) divisions of Pride and it has the best of the best on them.

I would buy this card if they didn't even announce any more fights! The level of quality is just that high and they're still going to announce more fights that include top fighters.

This is not a UFC vs Pride thread, please don't think of it that way either. UFC has offered great events and awesome free events and yet people still bash them which is ludicrus.

Already been announced
Gilbert Melendez vs Tatsuya Kawajiri
Joachim Hansen vs Shinya Aoki
Mauricio Shogun vs Nakamura Kazuhiro
Mitsuhiro Ishida vs Takanori Gomi
Kiyoshi Tamura vs Ikuhisa Minowa

Announced to Participate:
Josh Barnett
Wanderlei Silva
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Hidehiko Yoshida
Kazuyuki Fujita
Dan Henderson
Kazuo Misaki
Akihiro Gouno
Sanae Kikuta
Hayato Sakurai
Ricardo Arona
Denis Kang

As you can see, this card is aimed towards the Japanese obviously but shouldn't discredit how good of a card this is, sure it could've been better with Crocop/Fedor but they wouldn't have even been fighting each other but its still a great card.

I could name 15 fighters that are in the top 10 in their weight class off of the top of my head just by looking at the list of fighters, now that is just amazing for one event.

Fedor hasn't officially pulled out yet and anyone that discredits this card, either does not know who the fighters are confirmed so far or they just don't watch PRIDE.

Either way they have no right to comment on it.

I agree. Barnett vs Nog 2. Worth the price of the PPV right there.

agreed, but let me add that Barnett vs. Nog has been announced...

The card is not what it could be given Pride's deep, deep talent pool. But that is no reason to dismiss it because there are some potentially awesome fights already set and the card hasn't even been filled out yet....

They had me sold when they announced Hansen vs. Aoki and Melendez vs. Kawajiri. Everything else is very tasty gravy, with Nog vs. Barnett being dessert....

The only people who discredit this card are idiots. They rag on it because it lacks that "super-fight". Even if Fedor/Hunt is on, nobody expects much from Hunt.

I for one love this card because it shows some of the depth at the lighter weights, and hopefully Wandy and Arona are scheduled in competitive matches.

It might not be the blockbuster that some thought a Shockwave might be, but it's still, on paper, one of the top cards of 2006.

Hansen is fighting Aoki now? I thought Melendez was... regardless, those 3 160lb matches are worth ppv alone, those should be AMAZING fights. Maybe its just me but LW division has some of hte most exciting fights, and all those guys are top of the top... I can't wait to see them. I don't know why the Gomi fight isn't for the title though.
