It's the exact same thing. There is no verbage of 12 to 6, in the rules on the UFC website.
As stated before, a standing 12 to 6 positioning would only occur with a kneeling opponent. At that point why no just make the rule no downward elbow strikes to a kneeling opponent? Why? Because that's not what the rule is. The rule is
no downward elbow point strikes. Period.
I wonder if any of the other rules require a certain positioning to take effect? Is head butting legal while on the ground? Eye gouging? Biting? Hair pulling?
This is ridiculous.
Other fighters must expose Dana and the BS. Other fighters need to use those elbow point strikes to prevent getting mounted.
You will then see the rule begin to take effect and poster boys like Silva and Florian got away with murder.
