He didn't want to take a HW title fight the UFC offered him before getting big money in a contract extension (all with a fight and 8 months left on his current deal). He started entertaining offers from other orgs and was put on the shelf as a result. He since fired his manager, moved to a different camp, and is now supposedly committed to fighting in the UFC after signing an extension. He should get a fight soon. All his comments point in that direction.

I do believe it was mmaweekly.com that had an interview with him and he stated that certain legal issues were keeping him out of the ring(octagon), but that we will see him fight this year.

his manager was trying to get him to sign with elite xc and Vera was listening for a while, but has fired him and left City Boxing. He plans on possibly comin back later this year and makin a big impact in the LHW and HW divisions in 08
