Its not Hughes fault. He will be defending its soon enough. And dont knock him for not defending. Hughes has defended his belt more than anybody else in MMA.

I think it's becoming a problem in the UFC now with the champions not defending the belts enough, especially Hughes lately (although with TUF2 and Riggs not making weight, it's not totally his fault).
Chuck has defended just twice in a year since he won it, Franklin will be just twice in the year because of his injury and Arlovski, believe it or not, will have the most title defenses in the past year when he fights Sylvia with three, but he hasn't defended since October.
It seems like with more fighters in the fold now that we probably won't see two belts defended on the same PPV for a long time.
That happened three times in a row from UFC 51 (MW, HW) 52 (LHW, WW) and 53 (MW, HW) but hasn't happened since.
It's kind of frustrating because I want to see these guys fight the top competition on a regular basis. That might just be too much to ask, though.

Well, they defend a hell of a lot more than pride...

Yeah, I was going to put something to that effect, but I figured I'd just let it go because we were talking about UFC.

I dont care if there isnt a belt on the line...if Hughes looses he wold probably relinquish the belt anyways. Is Karo next or does Hughes go straight to GSP??
