How much should you read into fighters actions at the weigh ins??

2 things i noticed about the UFC61 weigh ins that i found to be extreamly interesting.

1. Tito was overhyped, pointing his finger, trash talking and all that. it made him look or seem nervous. Shamrock was very cool and relaxed, its normally the other way round, maybe Tito thinks this is gonna be tougher than first though? maybe Ken knows hes gonna get beat easier this than ever.

2. Slyvia was as usual very very very confident, and in the staredown he says to AA, "m gonna whoop your ass". now hes not done that in either of the other 2 fights, so why now?

these weigh in video's are very interesting.

drop your thoughts.

I also noticed that Frank Mir looked like he didn't want to be there.

...What was with that Tito - Dana arguement?

The Tito/Dana thing came from Tito wanting Shamrock to weigh in at 205 and not 206 before he himself weighed 206.5.

I don't read too much into the weigh in, you think Tito looked nervous but to me he looked focused on smashing Ken's face with his elbow.

He feels the pressure on him
Ken did look very calm, kind of strange.
What does Ken know that we dont know ??

Some say that under stressful and extreme conditions people's true character is gonna show.

And what could be more stressful and extreme than weigh ins?

Wars? Nope. Jail? Nope. Fighting in octagon? Nope. Colosseum? Nope. List goes on.

Weigh ins? Yep, you guessed it.

So, you can read quite much into fighters based on their actions on weigh ins. Quite much indeed. Weigh ins tell what people are made of, or what they are not made of. Plain and simple.

But, s/c aside, please note the hint of it above, it is interesting what comes out of fighters in these situations. Sometimes shameful, sometimes funny, sometimes arrogant, sometimes utter folly, you name it. I'd give those things a 41,7% validity degree.

Being quiet with just a smile oozes confidence.

Being brash suggests a guy isn't so confident.

However: A guy may just not like another. Or may be animated ---> I direct you towards Clay Vs Liston I.

We're not talking about bullies in third grade. Just because you want to put on a show at the weigh-in doesn't mean you're scared. You might just be a jackass.

Like the poster said earlier, Tito's reaction was to Ken weighing in at 206 and he was yelling at Ken and Dana for it. The 1 lb is ok according to the NSAC and you know full well that Tito knows that, but you could read his lips saying "it's in the contract...he would make 205 it's in the contract." I'm sure this was just a head game on the part of Tito. Of course I'm not sure if this back fired on him when he stepped on the stage and weighed 206.5. Very funny stuff.

On a side note regarding the weigh: This is probably the 5th that I've been to, and I was shocked by the # of females there this time. I would bet that 35-40% of the crowd was female, which is definitely a huge increase over what it has traditionally been. Can only mean good things to the continued growth of MMA in the U.S.
