How inactive would Fedor have to be in your eyes to fall out of number 1?
I don't normaly belive in removing someone from the number 1 ranking unless they lose or move out of the weight divison, however Fedor has been seriously inactive over the past few years. Since the end of 2004, he has fought 3 people who posed a serious challenge to him. He has also looked quite human in his last two fights, even having Mark Hunt attempting a submission on him. Sure, it wasn't that close but it was still a surprise.
My question is this, how long would Fedor have to go without facing a top ranked HW for you to no longer call him number one? He would have to fight some serious cans for at least two years before I would remove him, but some people might do it sooner, or some people not at all.

He would have to die or officially retire.

Fedor is just so unchallenged in his HW division dominance he would have to pull a Frank Shamrock to take him off the #1 spot. Or someone like Gonzaga or another young HW would have to dominate Cro Cop/Big Nog/Barnett etc.

He would have to stop training, and start showing up in Vegas nightclubs Chuck Liddell style.
As long as he keeps training, I don't think I could ever remove him from No. 1. If someone beats him twice, they will get the No. 1 spot, that is the only way.

Depends how you rank.
For example, say it was Tennis ranking, and Federer was Fedor. Luckily their names are similar. Fedorer could gop on a mass losing streak for half a year, and due to the points system, still retain top rank even if Nadal was literally killing people on the courts. Fedor has such a gap up top that he could have an extended period of absense, and the achievements he's got keep him afloat.
It's all down to perspective. In the end though, all opinions are invalid and wrong, There are no pfficial rankings, so Fedor isn't actually losing anything. Just an imaginary spot in the minds of people of no consequence.

I think he's the best HW. But as for rankings, i dont think he should be #1... considering how inactive he is.

If he hasn't fought a top 8 HW in the next 6-8 months, he should fall out of #1 by default. I'm not saying that he wouldn't still be the most dangerous HW, but seriously, aside from his rope a dope against Lindland, who has he fought in the recent past?
