Curious to know if you will be carrying HDNet anytime soon?

analyst Steven has entered room

Hello Brandon_, Thank you for contacting Comcast Live Chat Support. My name is Steven. Please give me one moment to review your information.

Steven(Wed Apr 23 2008 19:31:47 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

I can assist you with your HD channel questions.

Brandon_(Wed Apr 23 2008 16:32:31 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

Ok, I just want to know if Comcast is going to start carrying the HDNet Channel

Steven(Wed Apr 23 2008 19:32:42 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

i am looking into that for you.

Steven(Wed Apr 23 2008 19:35:12 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

Brandon, I dont have a time frame for when HDNet will be added to the lineup. We are working to provide as many high definition channel broadcasters as possible. Here are some of the factors involved with expanding our high definition lineup:

-the negotiation and contract process required to obtain the rights to carry a specific high definition broadcast, such as TNT-HD and HD-Net.

-the increased bandwidth resources which are required

-the relatively low number of subscribers (currently only a small minority of customers have high definition compatible television sets)

We will continue to explore additional HD programming opportunities as more content providers make plans to offer their programming in HD format.

Brandon_(Wed Apr 23 2008 16:36:14 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

So negotiation with HDNet is in the works though?

Steven(Wed Apr 23 2008 19:36:51 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time))>

Sure, we want to provide as many HD channels as possible to our customers.
There is an e-mail campaign for Comcast to carry HDNet. See link below:

Request Comcast to Carry HDNet

HDNet airs DREAM (which is the remake of PRIDE) live on the highest picture quality you will see outside of Blue Ray Disc. In addition to that HDNet airs Strikeforce, the IFL, M-1 Global, SportFight, MCF, the XFL, and Inside MMA (a weekly commercial free MMA news show).

In addition to that it is rumored they will carry Affliction and the Tim Sylvia vs. Fedor fight as well as the potential Randy vs. Fedor fight. The Affliction rumored card is unreal. Aleks. E. vs. TBA, Babalu vs. Mike Whitehead, Matt Lindland vs. TBA, Josh Barnett vs. Pedro Rizzo, and Ben Rothwell vs. Andrei Arlovski.

I left Mediacom cable (which is similar to Comcast) for DirecTV and I am glad I did. Damn I was getting ripped off. I use to have Comcast as well and they suck pretty bad as well.

I switched to DirecTV and I am glad I did. Comcast cable sucks compared to DirecTV. DirecTV has 85 HD channels compared to like 20 or so on Comcast. Plus, the picture quality is better because cable companies use coaxial cable. If they used fiber optic cables like AT&T plans to do with their new cable company the picture would be just as good. As long as you get a good installation there are hardly ever any outages. I had one outage for 5 minutes in 7 months because snow covered my dish. If you ever do get satellite make sure they mount the dish in a pole in the ground rather than onto the roof. Never put holes in your roof if you do not have to. DirecTV also gives you a ton of other stations that you have to pay extra for if you have Comcast. On top of all that the price is better.

Dish Network will give you a free HD DVR receiver where DirecTV will only give you a free HD or DVR receiver (I had to pay $200 for my HD DVR receiver which pissed me off). Another disadvantage is you can only mirror images into other rooms if you do not want to pay extra per receiver.

last I heard, comcast has no plans to add HDnet.
That is why we have started an e-mail campaign. If enough of us demand this then they will add HDNet. Send them another e-mail (see the link below):

Looks like Steven beat around the bush on that last question.
