Houston's knee and Rampage's elbow...shut up!!!
Houston's knee. Yes if it connected with the head (which I couldn't see if it landed on face or neck or chest) it was illegal. But Kieth continued to try to stand after it landed. The nuclear left hand right after the knee was what put him to sleep. And lets not forget that Jardine's bell had rung so many times before the knee that he must have thought their was a wedding in his head. In any case, the knee didn't really matter because he was on his way out and IMO had no chance of escaping the round at that point. I thought Jardine was going to win too, but oh well.
Rampage's elbow. I noticed the elbow too, but it didn't look like it landed all that hard, but I wasn't feeling it slam into my cheekbone so who knows. In any case it doesn't really matter because the hook that had Chuck sitting on his wallet landed perfectly. I was impressed that Rampage was actually looking for that hook. If you rewatch the fight you'll see that everytime Chuck threw something at Page he rolled and tried to counter with that hook. And why not, Chuck holds his left hand so far out there he's open for it. Good strategy. Don't get me wrong, I was shocked when Chuck got KO'd and I'm a Chuck fan, but I'm not making any excuses for the guy. The elbow was icing on the cake because Chuck was long gone when he hit the canvas. I hope he trains hard, comes back holding his left tighter and KO's Rampage, but Rampage may not be champ very long with all the talent comming into the UFC at 205 right now.
So please stop whining about illegal blows which really didn't effect the eventual outcome of the fight. It would be one thing if Houston's knee was the first clean shot of the fight, or Chuck slipped and fell and then caught the elbow. But both guys were nailed, rocked and halfway in the bag by the look on their faces before any questionable strike connected. So please stop.
