We'll be just fine. We kinda got lucky, that the biggest fight night of the year was fight on the weekend of the vote.
I love how the Sunday after the UFC is "Forum Day." Anyone see the numbers yet for last night? Somewhere around 500,000 pay per view buys? Tito + Penn + lightweight championship + Wanderlei. KILLER. Plus they're better than casual fans, because they have to actually pay for it. So BLAM, all them flood in before and after the fights. Then, everyone who couldn't afford it and are missing out, BLAM millions more flood in to see what happened. Then they spent the next 2 or 3 days on the forums chatting or reading about what happened and how it impacts all the various divisions, what matchups they'd like to see next, etc.
I mean, our fans are lazy, but if we snag one in a hundred of the viewers to vote (which we appear to be), we'll still cream 'em. I love the massive progress that's swamped in today... and I don't think we've even hit peak yet. Sunday is for family, Sunday night is for kicking back and BSing around about the weekend. Then there's Monday Morning Revelry, after everyone gets out to the office watercoolers, spurring another round of talk. Too bad it's a long weekend or it would be even better.
Booyeah 18-24 demographic.
We're ideally suited to winning this. Jericho fans may have fought once or twice to keep their show alive. We had to fight for like SIX YEARS on the internet to keep MMA alive when it was banned. Big deal, they had to talk some network executives into giving their show another chance. We had to campaign to make our *sport*, let alone our show, to not be ILLEGAL. Hundreds of politicians, commissioners, etc. It's not even legal in New York yet, (or Ontario for that matter, one of it's heartlands). We're still fighting. We're fecking pro at this by now after being kicked around so long.
The toss in that we're basically the only show on the list that's not bound by language barriers. No one's talking in fights, half the time the interviews aren't even in English. We've got half of Japan, Brazil, and pockets here and there in Europe.
You guys know how there was that one fighter, on the undercard, that was Korean? The Koreans mobilized and got the entire undercard televised too, in Korea. We have to pay $2/fight the next day to see those. And none of them even speak English. They just wanted to watch *ONE FIGHT* only because the dude was Korean. When the international attention comes in from everyone's emailing efforts, people who can't even read english are voting HDNet Fights
The pre-fight vote rush was nothing. We're going to destroy them today and tomorrow.
If you feel guilty about Jericho, well, don't. Their fans worked their asses off just like we did to get the vote out, and they made it to the finals, beating out 30 other shows which all pull higher ratings. If that's not enough for you, go help them out. We're not competing with them in a different poll, and you can vote once an hour. Like I said before, win/win:
TV_Vote: Best TV Shows of All Time! <-- Vote for Jericho.
I'd actually vote for Battlestar, but, they're already said to be "The best show on television", they don't need help :p
