i agree with you, and no he didnt get a point scored on him at all in the mundials.
heres his creds:
BJ Penn:

CBJJ World Championships

2000
Black Belt Pena: 1st Place

1999
Brown Belt [one above pena, need to check name.]: 3rd Place

1998
Blue Belt Pena: 2nd Place

Misc.

Grapplers Quest Lightweight Championship Super fight winner
1997 Joe Moreira tournament - blue belt, 1st place.
1999 Copa Pacific tournament - Gold medal.

Black belt awarded by Andre Pederneiras.

Rickson was only undefeated after receiving his black belt. I think the same goes for BJ. BJ lost his first tournament and so did Rickson, look it up. I'm not going to say BJ is on the same level as Rickson in pure BJJ, but he would like to be there some day and I believe he can achieve it.

Beat me to it.

BJ has probably only been subbed a handful of times in his entire BJJ career, and AFAIK, has never been subbed as a black belt. could be false, but I doubt it.
