Gym Lifts of Fighters

Anyone know some of the fighter's gym lifts are? Powerlifts, olympic lifts, and "odd" lifts like curls and dips or push ups and things? Guys like Randleman, Wandy, Arona, Rampage, and Hughes?

Not sure if you'll find that information. Most fighters don't lift for massive strength because it cuts into there flexiablity. Many lift for stamina of the mucsles. I think you would find alot of your MW and LHW lift less then you may think, even though they look like the could lift a car. Now some of the HW's that is whole a different animal. Some of those big boys like Sapp I bet can put up some good numbers.

Also another issue that not many people like talking about on here is the alleged use of designer steroids. Which I believe are quite widely used in MMA so that kind of throws a kink in what your asking.

I think Bas said he can do around 200 straight dips. I'm not even sure if this was to exhaustion or if he just did it for fun once.

I don't think most fighters do powerlifts or olympic lifts or the like, because it's not practical strength for what they're doing.

Don't listen to the bullshit about not doing powerlifts or clean and jerk type lifts. Hang and power cleans provide the most explosive strength of any lift, and deadlift is a core excercise in any well rounded weight lifting regimen just like squats, bench, and rows. I know the Miletich guys and Rich Franklin all lift bodybuilding routines i.e. one muscle group a day, and then move to circuit training (whole body endurance lifting) in actuall fight preparation mode.

Hmm there was a stupid try to break records show on TV back some time ago where guy tried for DIP world record and i think it was around 170. The guy sure wasnt build like Bas.. all upperbody muscle, extremely lean, short and prolly weighed like 55kg.

So take Bas claims with a grain of salt.

Ofcourse to some people "a dip" means lowering your head a few centimeters while keeping arms straight...

A good lift circuit i've been doing for a while now is the Randy Coture grappler workout. You use very light weight like the bar or maybe 5's on each side, you start with bb rows then without stopping move to bb chin ups, bb curls, squats, shoulder press, and good mornings. 10 reps of each exercise with a 60 second break between each set. After the full 6 sets you are absolutely dead!! it is one of the hardest workouts i've ever done that helps your muscular endurance, flexibility, and cardio.

There are a few guys who were powerlifters before getting into MMA, so they can obviously lift a lot, even if they're not training.

I think Mikey Burnett held national records for his weight class. Mark Robinson was a competitive powerlifter and I think Jimmy Ambriz was as well.

These guys never gets mentioned in the "who's the strongest" fighter threads...but they are the strongest.
