Guys who disagree with mma weekly rankings..the rankings are right...AND U ARE WRONG
this is the mma weekly's updated heavyweight division.
HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION (over 205 pounds)
#1 Heavyweight Fighter in the World: Fedor Emelianenko
2. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
3. Mirko Cro Cop
4. Josh Barnett
5. Randy Couture
6. Gabriel Gonzaga
7. Tim Sylvia
8. Andrei Arlovski
9. Fabricio Werdum
10. Aleksander Emelianenko
some sherdoggers seem to disagree with the list in various ways, some say rankings are absolute bullshit. well, to those people, i say that mma weekly's rankings are just fine.
Rankings from mma weekly are very, very complex with stats and several mma experts involved. Ask any fighter right now (not the casual mma fan) and he will agree with this list.
Fedor is #1 until he actually, loses a fight, nog is fedor's nemesis, crocop won the 2006 owgp grandprix, and barnett is right now the biggest threat to fedor because they match up so well. rankings 1-4 are perfect.
5-9 are solid rankings mainly focused on ufc fighters.
yes , GG landed a spectacular ko, but his loss over randy decreased his hype, and has fought with only 3 top hw in his career (wedum, crocop, couture) and lost to two of them.
Sylvia is overrated as always; but his size advantage and mediocre striking qualifies that spot. and yes he got absolutely manhandled by couture. his 26-3 is also respectable.
arlovski did win against werdum, but it was hardly a spectacular fight and his disappointing performance against sylvia qualifies that spot.
fabricio werdum and alex are all in the right place. Alex has lost only to the people in this top ten list; werdum, crocop and barnett.
so... dont diss the rankings. They are far more accurate and complex and any single sherdogger can think of.
