GSP said: "What helps me a lot in this type of a fight is that I fight in a very methodical fashion. I always say that you can never be in complete control, but I try to be as much as possible. I fight against my opponent's weaknesses, and not against his strengths. That way, I put all the odds on my side to win the fight and avoid nasty surprises."

I've noticed before this fight how he's very economical with his energy. It often looks like he is holding back from "full force" like some fighters. When he's on top, you wonder why he doesn't go for the kill or "finish" quicker. It's not as exciting but it is smarter--esp. for the 5-round fights. I'm surprised though about his comment he used up a lot of energy in round 1 because he didn't seem to have used that much. It could have been an adrenaline dump when he thought he was about to win.

Thanks TS!

I used to go to a bar called Zaphod's in Ottawa. It's still there, I'm just a hermit these days

Everyone: my pleasure. I hope people enjoy reading GSP's columns. I'll try to post them when they come out.

May I humbly suggest you put that large link for location in your sig. If you have reached the limit, I'd also like to add if you have that many favorite fighters as your sig suggests, you've given everyone a HUGE reason to not give a shit.

I feel for GSP. I remember reading or hearing him say he didn't think he would fight again this year after regaining the belt from Serra. I felt he seemed to need a rest then for sure. But then right away he was signed to fight Fitch a few months later. I think the UFC may have slightly pressured him to go ahead a take another fight quick like that. I hope for GSP and the fans sake he doesn't get rushed into his next fight before he's mentally ready. I want the best GSP there is and if he's made to fight 5 times a year we probably wont see that guy. Burn out is a very serious thing. I love watching him fight, he's my favorite fighter. But I dont wont to see him burned out before his time. I think maybe Matt Hughes was burned out a little before his time also.

Your translations are always appreciated. Good read. I really hope GSP fights again before the year ends, but I do agree that he needs some rest. The PRESSURE of gaining the belt and defending the belt on two occasions must have been tough on him too!!
