I recently came upon an interesting bit of history and thought I would share it here.
I'm not sure if Otto Olsen is a recognizable name to most of you, but he came on the scene in ADCC in 2003. He won all of his three first matches and lost only to Marcelo Garcia, you can find the match on YouTube. He wrestled for Michigan in college and became the top ranked 174 pound wrester.
Now how does this relate to GSP and Kos? Well who did Otto Olsen beat to become the number one ranked 174 pound wrester? You guessed it: Koscheck. You can read about it here if you need a source:

Ok, so how does GSP fall into this? Well GSP actually defeated Otto Olsen in a submission grappling match! Thats right, ADCC runner-up and NCAA champion wrestler Otto Olsen lost to GSP during ADCC 2005 (
http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...to-olsen_sport. And its not like GSP won with a quick submission or "caught" Olsen, he grinded out a decision, usually the route taken by the better wrestler.
So what I'm trying to say is although Koscheck is a great wrester (some would argue he has the best wrestling credential in MMA history), he will not have an easy time against GSP and could, fairly likely, end up on his back!
I know some of you might say, "you can't use MMA math!" or something to that affect, but I'm not trying to say GSP is a better wrester, but I'm saying their wrestling is on the same level.
You heard it here first, Kos gets taken down by GSP (probably after beat on his feet).
Kos did beat Otto in a consolation round during a later match, but they were extremely evenly matched. The point still remains, GSP performed at the same wrestling level (in this case better) than Koscheck.
Update: Of course anything can happen on any given day! This is not MMA math and I am not drawing a concrete conclusion from the evidence I posted. I was just pointing out that GSP has great wrestling, comparable to Koscheck's! I thought it would be interesting to show this connection but some people have the need to shoot some "argument" down. I was just pointing out an interesting connection!
Is it MMA math to say, Gonzaga did well in Mundials, so his ground game will be good in MMA!? No, its just pointing out a connection! Evidence, or past evidents, do matter! Yes anything can happen, but it is important to use logic!
It seems people are mistaking logic for MMA math.
