I think GSP was right about everything he said, Hughes really needs to step-up his game if he wants to stay a top fighter or he needs to retire. I never thought I'd say this but Matt Serra might be too much overall for Matt Hughes, which is sad when you consider what Hughes once was.

If Hughes comes back and loses the Serra then he should hang em up. If he beats Serra, which I think he will...he will make one mofre run for the title.

Not really, when your only option to win the fight is a takedown that means your too one-dimensional and the game has passed you up. So GSP is right, and Hughes is just mad that he hasn't had a good performance since Gracie and GSP is shining brighter than Hughes ever will.

You couldn't be more correct! Hughes is only 33 years old at this point and not that far removed from what most would consider to be "prime years." Right now he clearly has other things on his mind than fighting. His new Hit Squad gym being one of them and family being the other. Eventually everyone comes to a point where they no longer feel the need to prove anything to anyone, have made more than enough money to take care of his KIDS kids and the hunger/desire is just no longer there. This is definitely the case with Matt Hughes because it's not like he all of a sudden lost the tools. Fighting is just no longer his life.... Gsp (and every other fighter) will eventually come to this day in his life also..

no, he doesnt want to cross train. The game has OBVIOUSLY passed hughes by. In all the years hes been fighting, he still hasnt learned how to fight on his feet. Hes only got a few tools, namely wrestling and strength. Sound familiar?

GSP is shining bright but when Hughes was Champion he was shining brighter than GSP is now.GSP has defended his title once so lets now give his nuts the death grip yet.Hughes probably wont be champion again but hes still going down as one of the best just like Randy and Chuck.

i think that the thread title is very misleading.
GSP is just saying that Matt doesn't seem as focused on fighting as he has in the past. Not only is that pretty obvious, but Matt has said as much himself
