To be fair, Hughes has had several fights on short notice lately.

At 63, his opponent changed from GSP to BJ Penn. At 79 and 85 he fought on short notice. I'm not here to list excuses since his opponents had short notice as well, and in the case of 63, only Penn really had short notice since Hughes' opponent was switched.

But I can see how his drive would appear to be diminished without ample time to prepare so consistently. After all, he's the older fighter and that age is reflected in his experience- he's one fight away from 50 mixed martial art matches.

Top this all off with the fact that GSP and Alves are bigger and more athletic, and it's not like Hughes has been dropping fights to the Karo's and Cummo's of the world.

I don't think it's that the game has passed him by- WW just happens to be one of the best divisions in all of MMA.

Including someone in the category of "older fighter" is not the same as "old-timer Hughes".

Fucking journalist making his own headlines.

It's true. Although I think Hughes can still beat 60-75% of his division but he'll never be the champ again in the UFC.

Only way to solve this is let Fitch fight Hughes and smash him too.

Hughes doesn't want to get better, so he's just gonna keep losing

I agree its a pretty inflammatory title, but it does condense the article into one sentence. Plus, its a blog so the journalistic standards are very low.

Just like he stuffed GSP & Roan's takedowns? People overrated Fitch's wrestling.
