Straight up, this is not an excuse or anything just an observation i have made
the reason why most pride fighters are losing is because they did not really cut much weight in pride
the techniques american/ufc fighters use to cut gives them a huge advantage over the pride fighters
take examples from like nakmura he is fat at 205 when coming to ufc he seemed tiny compared to his opponent
basically i think almost all pride fighters that came down to ufc should cut down one division in order to be able to have success

Many made the case for Nakamura to cut to 183 in PRIDE, so that's nothing new.

Anyway, let's not discount the potential impact steroid testing has on fighters. They fight the majority of their careers in Japan where steroids are legal and not tested for, and now all of a sudden compete under sanctioning bodies with testing policies. How many MLB players suddenly dropped muscle mass and weight when they instituted their steroid testing policy? No coincidence.

Joe Rogan brought this up at the Forrest vs. Shogun card. It is probably the number one reason why Pride guys aren't looking like the dominant fighter that they did in Pride.

steroids have a factor im sure aswell
but honestly
they all look like nothing compared to the ufc fighters
get them to cut down one division lower
like cc to lhw
wand,hendo,nak,shogun to middleweight and so on
and see what happens

I think the UFC should:

1- Ban weight cutting
2- Adapt Pride rules
3- Replace the octagon with a ring
4- Hold events in Japan away from NSAC.

Then Pride fighters will PWN !

It's funny that Wand and Shogun were seen (rightfully) as top 205ers for years, now all of a sudden they aren't even good enough to compete at the weight and need to drop 20 pounds in order to have the same level of success?

Hendo fought at 183 in PRIDE obviously. CC has fought bigger HW's before, went 3-0 against Barnett for instance, fought Hunt, fought Herring, fought Aleks, etc.

Here's an idea, let's start giving some of these fighters, like Gonzaga, Kongo, Chuck, Forrest, Rampage, Lyoto some credit? They were just better on those nights. I agree Nak should drop. I think Hendo can be effective at both weights. I don't think Shogun has any business dropping to MW right now (I still remember him weighing 225-230 against Coleman), same probably goes for Wand. CC might consider it, but that doesn't seem to be his style.

Yet when UFC fighters do it they get shit hung on them, maybe it is about time people realise that fighters in the UFC have always been as good as those that used to fight in Pride
