GSP french article!

OK so here is a translation of an article GSP pulished today on a popular mainstream french sports website!
Here is the original (no worries translation follows, as always I am translating the article for your reading pleasure, I'm not a professionnal so I hope nothing gets lost in translation.)

Serra est très dangereux au sol
Georges St-Pierre
Lundi 02 avril 2007

Translation:

Serra will be extremely dangerous on the ground
GSP

It's this coming saturday inm Houston that I'll have the chance to defend my title for the first time. For my first defence, I'll be fighting the winner of TUF 4, MAtt Serra.

Originally the fight should have taken place on February 3 but a knee injury forced me to reschedule the fight. I can assure you guys that I am in top shape and that my knee is one hundred percent.

Serra is a particular fighter. He is not as well rounded as myself, but he is extremely dangerous on the ground. I think that on the ground he is the most dangerous fighter I've ever faced.

There is no doubt in my mind that he will try to take me down and use flying arm locks, ankle locks etc... These are moves that you rarely see and are very spectacular. I'll have to be extra carefull on the ground as Matt is superior to me in that regard.

Good training partners

I did not change my training regiment for this fight: 50 % ground and 50% standup. But because Matt is so dangerous on the ground, I practiced my escapes a lot.

Regarding my training partners, I kept the same people around me. I still train with the olympic wrestling team, pro boxers and my BJJ partners. However for this fight I had the chance to train with David Loiseau, Patrick Cote and Jonathan Goulet. I also brought to Montreal Nate Marquardt, who will be fighting for the title in July, and Rashad Evans. Evans will be fighting Tito Ortiz in July.

As before each of my fight, I always doubt my talent and habilities. I wonder if I am strong enough. This for me is normal. It's what keeps me sharp. It's good to be confident, but it's also good to doubt yourself a little. For me it's what pushes me to get better.

According to everyone, I should destroy Serra. However people seem to forget that only Shonie Carter managed to finish Serra and there was only 9 seconds left. Even BJ Penn could not finish him. So I am expecting a very long fight.

Sanchez next?

This coming Saturday, Diego Sanchez will face Josh Koscheck. Although nothing is officially signed yet, there are good chances that the winner of this fight will face the winner of my fight in the near future. At least this is what I heard.

However lets not forget that Matt Hughes still remains one of the top contender.

If I should be victorious this Saturday, there is still talk of a title defence in Montreal. Myself and my manager are pressuring the UFC to make it happen. Regarding this topic, listen carefully to my speach should I win this Saturday!

UFC buys Pride

Last week, the UFC bought Pride. This is both good and bad.

For the fighters, it means that negotiation will be harder as leverage will become more difficult.

However, this should bring a unified set of rules. In Pride, they used a ringand had 10 minutes fight (with a 5 min extra time). Now all fights should take place in an octogone and be three 5 min rounds.

The competition will also get better, and we should be treated to super championship fights.

In my cathegory most of the best fighters in the world are already with the UFC. But in the others divisions the competition should be fierced.

In the end, I think that the fans will be the true winners of this situation.

We'll talk next week after my fight!

Great interview, your english is good.

GSP is being too humble when talking about Serra. But then again GSP is always very humble. Classy guy.

UFC better make GSP/Hughes III in Montreal!!!

He is pretty well spoken, I mean the guy is not a Ph.D, but he comes across as being very polite and well educated.
