Good Job Randy Couture but...

Why does everyone make such a big deal about it. It is grate that he is an inspiration at 44 years old but everyone looks at him like he is the greates guy ever. He has a mediocore record at 16-8 and until last night had never defended his title. Before last night he was 5-5 in his last 10 fights and everyone talks about how great he is.

What happend with Couture is he got kind of lucky, his biggest wins came when the UFC started to blow up so it cemented him in the picture.

Credit to him he stepped up when he beat Chuck then Tito, and then he got on the Ultimate Fighter and it made he a star.

He beat Chuck, Tito then lost by tha bogus cut to Vitor, then although he dominated Vitor to get his belt back the fight was stopped because of a cut that was caused by an unintentional headbutt. Something Couture does a lot when he takes people down he tries to smash them with his head knowing it would be called unintentional, did it to Gonzaga last night when he slammed him.

My point is everyone is saying how great Couture is. It's not that it's that Silvya and Gonaga are stupid for having a horrible gameplan. Sylvia got knocked down and was useless when he shoudl have been trying to put Randy on his back and pund him ot ala Ricco and Barnett, Gonzaga came out swinging and seemed like he wanted another highlight real knock out when he too should have been taking Couture down and pounding him out or at least make an attempt to do so. Even pulling guard would have been better than just being pinned up against the cage.

Big Nog, Fedor, and Barnett would bring it to Couture and not let Couture impose his will. I think Sylvia would as well and not make the same mistake twice.

I would still take Cro Cop but I can see Couture beating him, and with the other guys in the division I think Couture could beat them. Everyone just puts Couture on a really high pedastool.

Hey, you're from Murrieta. That's where Mark Hall from the early UFC's is from.

This may explain your retardation.

Wow, are you serious OP? I mean....he intended to slam a 250+ lb man on his head and sandwich his own head between the guys nose and his body? As far as Randys record, it may look mediocre but the guy has fought some good fighters. Is it better to be 24-0 against nobodys or 16-8 against a good list?

He is a legend because he has done things no fighter has ever done, and he has done them consitently for over a decade.

Sak is a legend too, and it has nothing to do with his win-lose ratio

100% agree, randy deservees TONS of credit and admiration because of his age. But if you ignore that fact, he's just an interesting hw without much time left.

Every top level martial artist has the capability of taking out his opponent in seconds with a submission or with a KO. If you show me a martial artist with a 20-0 record, you've shown someone who's either in a league with limited competition or he's picked his fights wisely.

I don't like or dislike Randy, but I respect his willingness to fight. He's done a little bit of fight picking (like moving out of Pride HW and into UFC LHW then to HW when Tim Sylvia was champ and the division is a little weaker than LHW) but by and large has been willing to step in the ring with anyone. That, and not mediocrity, is why Randy has eight losses.

"consitent" and couture should never be used in the same sentence without the words "not," "hardly," or "rarely."
