I'm for keeping them out, if those people want the tools of their TMA's then they can stay in that MA. I prefer to see two people square off with nothing interfering(same reason I prefer ring to cage).

I would really like to see shoes allowed. There are plenty of shoes made for TMAs that are designed for kicking that are thin and don't have exposed laces. I think wrestling shoes are fine as long as the laces are taped down.

Good thread.
As far as shoes go, i say no shoes allowed, because then that starts to affect agility, speed, kicking power, cuts (if the shoes rub the face...). Obviously rubber tears skin easier than skin-on-skin contact.
As far as GI's go, I say allow them. Being a GI wearer myself, i know all too well that they can just as easily be used against you as they can help you. You can get tossed around the ring wearing one if you dont know what your doing. Im a big fan of the TMA in MMA, so to get rid of the GI's entirely would be a bit disrespectful to all of the TMA's that are the reason MMA is around. GI's are a very proud and honored tradition, so I say leave them but scratch the shoes.

TMA = Traditional Martial-Arts rekka

I'm doubtfull of Gi (even though i love to see fighters whit Gi) since i think it gives to much of an advantage for an experienced Gi user. I fail however to see why someone from a striking TMA would benefit from wearing a Gi and I think only BJJ practitioners and Judokas would use them.

Shoes however should be allowed even with kicking. The shoe doesn't do much damage and i hate when people slip in the cage. The negative thing about shoes is that you more easily become victime of any kind of sub using your foot (you get a better grip).
