The future of the UFC Heavy-weight title

Arlovski is a better fighter than Sylvia, lets face it, he just is. The man lost because he has a glass chin. And possibly he took the fight too lightly. Andrei has better hands, moves better and definatly has the superior ground game.

But this threads not about that. Obviously if Andrei sticks around the ufc somewhere down the line he wil get the rematch. But the point is TIM WILL NOT KEEP THE BELT. I can really see Jeff Monson in the not so distant future taking the belt.

Now i know what ur all gonna say; "look at how he was nearly out struck by a terrible striker because of the reach, imagine the freakin 6-8 reach" You may think that but the onli reson that was predominatly a stand up fight was because of Pe de pano's incredibly ground game. When he fights Sylvia he will show of his Abu Dahbi championship wrestling and will then just take Tim apart on the ground. I dont think Tim's takedown defense is anywhere near as good as it needs to be to stop the inevitable.

Then the belt will really start moving around the division in my opinion.

Please discuss

thank you

Although he has a fighting chance, I don't know if Monson's takedowns will be fast enough. Sure, if he gets Tim to the ground it's pretty much a done deal, but I think that Tim's takedown to defense will hold up long enough for him to KO Monson.

I am not a big Monson fan, at all, but I think he would beat big Tim. Tim would only get one shot to knock Monson out( he could do it, but I don't think it would happen), and that is when Monson comes in for the takedown. After that, Tim probally will defend the takedown pretty well, but I think Monson is strong enough to get Tim down after a short struggle. From there, Tim has no chance. I am pretty sure we are going to get to see this fight pretty soon also.

Sylvia does have really good take down defense. If anybody remembers vs Ricco (another Abu Dhabi standout) he stuffed all Riccos take down attempts with ease. Against Mir he took Mir down, and the first time against AA only ended up on the ground because of a punch. I've never seen him get taken down and don't expect it to be easy for Monson. I'll admit on the ground he's less than spectacular, but taking him down is easier said than done.

The future of the UFC hw title? If life was fair and Dana wasn´t so afraid of letting people see the poor standard of the UFC hw´s the title would soon belong to Jerome Le Banner... but that fight won´t happen of course, how would it look if a K1 fighter came in and took over? Nevermind that Tim challenged Jerome to come over and fight him and Jerome accepted...

Monson has a better chance than some realize. While the reach will be a big factor, Monson's superior grappling and submission game will be a huge factor as well. People are saying he cant take down Tim because he had difficulty w/ Cruz...Cruz is also just as good a submission grappler as Monson.

Tim's TD defense is good, but Monson has that explosive speed on him, and if it goes to the ground, done deal.

Point taken BUT Ricco isnt a 2 times heavy weight adcc champ. I do take ur point tho, i just think Monson has the tools to take Tim down at least once, and then it will all be over. We havnt really got to seen the inproved Monson's wrestling as his last 2 fights have been agiasnts 1. a very gd wrestler and 2. a extremly dangerous ground fighter.
