future control of MMA

all this talk about dana has got me thinking and im gonna predict what i introduced in a hypothetical about a week ago...

dana's role in the sport is not long for this world... here's why

1) dana has shown a compete inability to do business in a japanese market, and his agression towards pride and its market makes it unlikely that he will be well received by its fans or fighters...
2) while his role in the UFC's growth has been legitimate, it is overestimated... the primary reason for the UFCs success is without question its deal with spike, one which was orchestrated by the fertitas themselves...
3) dana is umprofessional, and while this may not be a problem when dealing with fighters, his casual approach to business will never allow the sport to become mainstream as long as he is the "face" of the organization... can you imagine corporate reps and sonsors from legitimate businesses (not malt liquor beverage companies) sitting through a meeting while dana calls people motherfuckers and challenges them to boxing matches... its rediculous...

dana is a friend of the fertitas and they clearly owe him a debt of gratitude... he was perfect for the sport and will be good for another few years, but the way it is growing and the way its image is changing, the figurehead of such a business will need to as well... the success of the the ufc, pride, and mma in the future will only grow if the business finds a way to distance itself from people like dana white...
