I'm having this debate with this hardcore Frank Shamrock nuthugger, and hes going on and on about how Frank Shamrock is the GOAT and is a bigger legend than Royce Gracie and everything about Frank is better than Royce. I'll post his argument.

-Frank has never ducked anyone
-Frank is more of a legend than pat miletich and royce gracie, hes beaten better guys than them.
-Frank would beat royce gracie in a fight
-Frank is more of a legend than Royce because he trained bohlander, williams, mezger and bj penn. He has created two promotions and if he fights royce he would win.
-If you think royce would make frank shamrock tap out, then u are the dumbest guy here. Frank has a better guard, better stand up and better wrestling. All royce has is his fuckin jiu jitsu.
-frank would pwn matt hughes
-The only people royce can sub are idiots that dont know what they are doing. (Yet, his favourite fighters are Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Dan Severn and Kimo, among other old school fighter)
-Royce beat kimo, ken and dan when they were all GREEN. It was kimo's first fight, dan severn's debut night and ken shamrock didnt know wtf jiu jitsu was
-Royce couldnt sub Tokoro in his guard, i guarntee frank could.

its hard to convince him otherwise....he thinks that Frank wins over Funaki, Zinoviev, Kevin Jackson mean more than wins over Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, and winning 3 UFC tournaments.

So, whos the bigger legend, Royce or Frank?

no on just the title alone.

frank fought well, but royce isn't a legend because he was the best.

he was a legend for bringing a new dimension to the world of matrial arts and basically flipping it upsidedown.

i didn't even post my arguement tho. I explained how:

Royce is from the top fighting families ever.
Gracie JJ schools are all over North America.
Royce won 3 UFC tournaments, taking on everyone and everybody.
Fought Saku for 6 15 minute rounds, with a minute break in between. Frank wouldn't step into a ring with Saku at this time.
With Royce's win in UFC 1, he started a training craze, bring in new people to train in BJJ. I dunno about you, but i never heard a "Frank Shamrock fighting style" craze.
Royce is classy, and he never ducks anyone, unlike Frank.

Royce is more recognisable legend - without doubt

Frank is WAY BETTER, has fought and beaten better opponents, and would easily tap or KO royce in 1st round - royce will be in trouble if he ever fights good fighters. expect to have 2-3 more NYE shows in japan against the likes of Akiyama or some K1 no-names for big money. He will not return to UFC to fight hughes again or Penn, or GSP - or go to pride and fight hendo, etc. Possibly could fight saku - but i feel he does not have the balls to face top tier fighters after being severely owned by hughes. Frank shamrock WTF are you not stepping up - he does have ability to hang with anyone and win.

He is right though on the account that Frank has way more credible fighting skills and he would beat Royce.(Back then or now).
