i think gsp's standup doesn't match well with serras standup, from gsp's point of view. gsp is always trying to move forward it seems and doesn't weave or bob much, and serra seems to throw hooking haymakers alot and is also an offensive striker who doesn't like to back off and sera just throws alot of punches to begin with, more so than gsp. afew times in the koscheck fight did gsp get pretty close to koscheck and against serra that isn't a good idea. he definitely played it smart this time and you could really tell that is surprised sera by how swiftly and easily he got taken down. it was like a takedown clinic.

He just kept Serra off balance. GSP reminds me of Fedor in that he sticks to his gameplan better than anyone else in the world.

Perfect execution of what he wanted to do and you get people starting threads like this.

I also think that gameplan was designed to punish Serra a little bit and prove a point.

GSP said himself he was looking to tire Serra out, so bringing him to the ground was part of his gameplan. To say he is afraid to stand and is just a wrestler now is ridiculous. Serra doesn't have that great of MMA jiujitsu anyway.

And what is that going to mean when Fitch is begging for mercy from the molesting?

Fitch was scared to stand with Diego OBVIOUSLY.

GSP has always been a ground fighter. Very few of hits fights have ever been a standing affair. What exactly are you talking about?

With Serra's short stubby legs, taking him down and passing to half-guard was a great strategy, that way he could hold him down better and avoid Serra's bjj.

Scared? Puh-leeze. What I saw was in-fight adjusments being made by GSP, who now seems to have great strategy to go along with great skills

It was part of his gameplan, GSP said that it would be dangerous for him to stand with Serra because he is so short it's hard to duck under his punches. Thats how he got caught the first time.

I have a feeling that when him and Fitch fight Fitch will be the one affraid to stand.
