Dream Stage Entertainment have confirmed the earlier rumors for the Bushido Welterweight Grand Prix, announcing that Denis Kang will take on Akihiro Gono and Paulo Filho will face Kazuo Misaki in the two semi final bouts.
Kang has been on fire so far the in Bushido series with five straight victories, the latest being a submission win over Russian Amar Suloev in his Grand Prix quarterfinal. Akihiro Gono himself is on a winning streak of three straights fights in Bushido, beating Gegard Mousasi in his last bout to advance to the semifinals. However, one streak will now have to come to an end as each man will look at advance to the finals at Yokohama Arena.
Kazuo Misaki, who upset PRIDE welterweight champion Dan Henderson in the quarterfinals, will try to keep his momentum going and become Grand Prix champion, but will face an enormous challenge in undefeated Paulo Filho of Brazilian Top Team. Filho cruised to the semifinals on August 26, running through Ryo Chonan quickly, submitting him via armbar in the first round.
