Kiyoshi Tamura- Underrated

In my opinion, he is an underrated fighter because he beat Menne, Miletich, Horn, Renzo Gracie, Minowa, and Takada. He also drew with Frank Shamrock when he was the UFC champion. It's true that he did lose a good deal of fights, but most of those were to great opponents, including losing two majority decisions to Babalu.

Vs. Frank:

Vs Minowa:

Like a lot of Japanese fighters he has three things going against him:
1) He's been forced to fight (and lose) to opponents much bigger than him
2) He has the stigma of being a pro-wrestler, not a true MMA fighter
3) He's Japanese (only works against him on Sherdog)

Tamura for his size is far more skilled than any Japanese HW. It sucks that his reputation was destroyed doing something he is actually very good at.

Anyone who really follows this sport closely knows that Tamura's a badboy.

What's ironic is that at lower weights, this phenomenon is rare, and in fact, the opposite. At the higher weights, you're right though.
