fighters cutting water weight

I was wondering how much water the average guy cuts the day before? People talk about how big guys like GSP, tito, franklin are in there weight classes because they cut weight. How much of the weight they cut is fat and how much is water?

All water. For one of Riches last fights he went to Vegas at 204 and got down to 185 for the weigh ins. If you are over 200lbs you can drop 10lbs in an a couple of hours or less.

That's a bunch of bullshit...why do you think fighters eat a special diet before fights? Atkins anyone??? They seriously eat a low carb diet to blow off any remaining fat so they can have the least body fat before they have to cut water. Randy said he cut down to about 215-217 before he had to start cutting water and he walks around at about 225-230. He's ripped at that weight and that's why he looks so much more ripped at 205. I bet most of these bigger guys at 155/170/185/205 don't have more than 5%bf when they step on the scale. Even Arlovski cuts his % fat down before a fight. His trainer said fat was just extra weight to carry in a fight.

I think the thread starter was referring to the day they actually step on the scales. They don't lose any fat on that day do they?
