The fighter nickname definition thread.

The fighter nickname definition thread.

I made none of these nicknames by the way.

In no particular order:

Rich "Ace" Franklin (Reference to Ace Ventura)

George "Rush" St. Pierre (Given to him by the UFC executives for his inclination to "rush" into a fight and get right down to business.)

Renato "Babalu" Sobral (A type of bubble gum in Brazil. He looks like the character on the wrapper.)

Stephan "The American Psycho" Bonnar (Just like the movie of the same name, Bonnar is a typical white male, but he is a psycho on the inside.)

Wesley "Cabbage" Corriera (He looks like a Cabbage Patch doll.)

Dana "BLAF" White ("Built Like A Fighter" somebody made this comment and it caught on as a joke.)

Herb "Octopus" Dean (His dreads and mustache make him look like an octopus.)

Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva (Chopping blows that can decapitate or dismember you. Silva's nickname in Brazil is "Cachorro Louco", which translates to "Mad Dog", again due to his aggressive fighting style, but also because of the vicious way he stares at his opponents just before the beginning of his fights.)

Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (Maintains his composure in the octagon. He does not become intimidated.)

Dan "Hendo" Henderson ("Hendo" is a nickname given to many people named Henderson. See Dave Henderson formerly of the Oakland A's, Red Sox, etc.)

Marcio "Pe De Pano" Cruz (Translates to Sugarfoot. He doesn't kick much so it's true meaning is unknown.)

Josh "The Baby-faced Assassin" Barnett (He doesn't look baby-faced to me..)

Paulo "Lil'Arona" Filho (Fights very similar to Ricardo Arona)

Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk (He is very muscular for his size. His last name almost sounds like Shark.)

Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (From Maine)

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (Dictionary definition: A course of violent, frenzied behavior or action. Nuff said.)

Takanori "The Fireball Kid" Gomi (Throws punches llike fireballs)

Hayato "MACH" Sakurai (Pronounced "MAHA", It was the nickname of a professional wrestler. What this actually means is still unknown.)

Mirko "CROCOP" Filipovic (Former Croation police officer)

Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira (Unknown. The assumption is that he is referencing a Minotaur from Greek mythology, but why?)

Antonio Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira (Unknown)

Matt "The Law" Lindland (He took the American Wrestling Association to court over a match at the Olympic trials, and won the litigation, thereby allowing him to wrestle at the Olympics where he won a silver medal.)

Randy "The Natural" Couture (Great Inherent ability)

Kenny "KENFLO" Florian (Abbreviation)

Andrei "The Pit Bull" Arlovski (Dictionary definition: One who behaves in a markedly aggressive or ruthless manner. Also the nickname of one of his trainers.)

Jeff "The Snowman" Monson (Given to him by Brazillians at the ADCC tournament because he is a big white fighter that got stronger as the tournament went on, like a snowball rolling in snow.)

Tito "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Ortiz (Self-explanitory)

Ken "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock (Given to him by NBC in a "World's Most Dangerous..." TV show because he was one of the first dominant cagefighters in an emerging sport and has a real knowledge of submissions that work in the real world.)

Chris "The Crippler" Leben (Likes to "cripple" his opponents.)

Joe "Daddy" Stevenson ("Who's your daddy?" And has children)

"Big Daddy" Gary Goodridge (Same as Joe "Daddy" Stevenson)

Anderson "The Spider" Silva (Unknown)

Michael "The Count" Bisping (Got his nickname because if Poland didn't get it's system of Royalty destroyed in WWII (or I... forgot) then he can trace his lineage and he would actually be a Count.)

Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard (Self-explanitory)

Spencer "The King" Fisher (Self-explanitory)

Jeremy "Gumby" Horn (A Non-muscular, flexible body similar to Gumby's.)

Mike "Quick" Swick (Finishes his fights quickly.)

Brandon "The Truth" Vera ("Vera" is a corruption of the latin word "Vertitas," which means truth.)

Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez (Because if he's beating you it's like a bad dream.)

Joe "Diesel" Riggs ("Diesel Rigs", Sort of like Nate "Rock Quarry")

Karo "The Heat" Parisyan (Karo is a firefighter.)

Phil "The New York Bad Ass" Baroni (A bad ass from New York, they don't get any badder.)

Mark "The Hammer" Coleman (Will bring you down onto the mat like a hammer to a nail.)

B.J. "The Prodigy" Penn (A real prodigy of Jiujitsu)

David "The Crow" Loiseau (He got his name from his friends becuase his last name means "The Bird" In French/Canadian and he's black.)

David "Tank" Abbott (Demolishes everything like a Tank)

Charles "Krazyhorse" Bennette (Fights like a horse gone crazy)

Jens "Lil'Evil" Pulver (Little, but evil)

Kevin "The Monster" Randleman (Monsterous strength)

I know there's still a bunch I missed. You can add some more to the thread if you like but try and use real nicknames and real definitions. If you can solve the unknown definitions then please do so.

'Mach' Sakurai is actually pronounced 'MA-HA' and I think he got that nickname from another fighter, or something like that named MACH

Minotauro is from greek mythology or something like that. Also, his brother is Minotoro, I believe, and Lil Nog is because he is smaller than his brother. And Hendo is a nickname given to many people named Henderson. See Dave Henderson formerly of the Oakland A's, Red Sox, etc.

Thanks, I added a couple of new definitions. I'm pretty sure Babalu doesn't mean Bubblegum, can someone confirm this? It took me a couple of minutes to do, I'm a fast typer.
