Fertitta brothers haven't seen a return on their investment yet

Good article on the state of the UFC, and its future. I found this quote most interesting:

"The Fertitta brothers have poured millions into the UFC, and they haven't seen a return on their investment yet."

Oh no! You picked AA? Don't buy into the sherdog hype. These guys make picks based on how sexually arousing they find the fighter, not his actual skill. I really need to start AV betting. I have been wrong like twice since I joined this site.

Taking something that was barred by everything, and lobbying to basically create a sport in America that was not only from scratch, but had financial and moral debt with some powerful political haters.... I understand.

Let's continue to bitch about their pay outs while they try to rebound from saving MMA in America while the vulture promotions reap the rewards. Great answer guys! Sherdog 's 14 year old age average always knows the right way to go!

I think their payouts are rising very fast....give it a couple of years, and youll see the trend of payouts on the rise. Plus, more and more fighters will opt for PPv % in their contracts considering how fast that is growing.

Don't worry guys, the UFC is here to stay. (and after this past year, there is absolutely no way that the Fertitas have not seen a return on their investment)

I don't remember the exact number - but they were losing millions per event at the beginning when they bought the UFC, not too mention all the other capital they invested. For some reason I want to say they lost around $50 million before an event turned a profit for them, but I don't remember for sure.

I'm sure they've started to make returns now considering the boom in the sport, but they probably haven't made back all of the money yet.

They are profitable now, which is good. It will just take a while to pay back the millions poured in. That's one of the reasons they are so protective of their brand they have built. (Which is why I am amused the Sherdoggers get mad when people try to piggyback off their brand and ZUFFA sues them. ZUFFA literallly poured millions into that brand, why would they give it to their competitors?)

This surely won't stop the "UFC Pay SUCKS" threads since they were never grounded in logic or reality anyway. They were mainly just another way to bash the UFC. (To go along with "UFC Fans suck" and "Joe Rogan Sucks" threads.)

Even if they havent earned back all the money they invested in the ufc. They're earning money on each event, so its just a matter of time before they get it all back. Its the same if you buy a big company...it takes time before you start earning money. I assume they're earning more and more since the ufc (mma) seems to get more popular.

They only spent $2 million to buy the UFC, virtually nothing to them.
