Fedor vs. great athletes in other sports
Michael Jordan
Tiger Woods
Jerry Rice
Is Fedor a better athlete at his sport than these guys were at their respective sports?

It is very early in the history of mma. So I think it makes more sense to compare him to one of the early greats in a sport, like a Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb for baseball, etc.

Mike Tyson was on top of his game for a long time and then bingo. if fedor comes back from this injury and fights for a few more years im sure he will cement his place in MMA history.(btw im not comparing fedor to tyson im just saying in the fight game things can go south in a hurry)

i do feel that fedor is up there (or deserves to be) with the finest athletes in the world.
while mixed martial arts is not nearly where other sports are in this country in terms of popularity, that doesnt mean anything. combat has been around since the dawn of time, and mixed martial arts is a very demanding sport. there are other mma fighters that come from world-class backgrounds like yoshida, lindland, bj penn
fedor is an amazingly conditioned, strong, dominant fighter that should be considered on of the greatest athletes on the planet. not to mention that the also embodies a lot of the things that make a great competitor like sportsmanship, respect and class.
pele should be added to the list too.
