Fedor v. Frye: Hear me Out!

Why I want to see this fight:

Frye has said he wants to fight one or two more times following September. He's getting on in his years and he's trying to move towards coaching (with sadly limited success) but he still has a lot of fight left in him. In fact, he has everything left in him: The dude is still a terror in the ring. He fought James Thompson in perhaps the most exciting match of the year at Pride's last show, and though he lost, the dude took fifty straight shots to the face and body before giving up without any sign of permanent injury. He was and is an animal.

Now it is very possible at least one of those last matches will be with Ken Shamrock. I think this would be great for both of them, as it'd give both of them a wonderful hurrah at the end of their career, especially since their first match was so awesome. Ken Shamrock v. Dan Severn in "make UFC 9 not happen" would also be great, or even Dan Severn v. Don Frye "battle of the mustaches 2007!" would be great, even if they are great friends.

But why not Fedor?

I don't see Frye winning, but who would not want to see an epic slug fest featuring Frye v. Fedor? Would it not be insane to see Fedor and Frye duke it out like Frye v. Takayama? Can you imagine the excitement of seeing Frye and Fedor wail on eachother for an entire round? Just go all out? Even if Frye is the one meat mountain'd this time, as is most likely?

It would be an awesome farewell to Frye and if it was a title match, a true way to honour his career of ass kickery.

Though it seems odd, I want Fedor v. Frye!

Batshit insane.

But seriously: Who does not want to see Fedor v. Frye be a virtual repeat of Frye v. Takayama?

I think we could all cheer the predator into fight retirement with tears in our eyes after a fight like that.

And if he, by some miracle, beat Fedor? I don't think even the hardest core Fedor fan like myself and many others would mind. As who doesn't love Frye, also?

K0139:

How is Don Frye "not good competition"?

The guy is an animal.

Can anyone tell me they have not loved practically every Frye fight in his fight history?

I think his only disappointing performances were during his period when he was (regretfully) addicted to pain killers.

Frye v. Takayama is a serious candidate for greatest fight in the history of MMA. If not greatest, then -at least- the most exciting.

RedRum666:

Clearly, then, you are not a fan of "MMA".

Anyone who cannot say these three things hates MMA, I'd say:

WAR Fedor

WAR Frye

WAR Fedor v. Frye!
