What it will take for UFC to have some competition.

With all this tito crap going on this is a great opportunity for thes up and coming promotions. All it is going to take is a big name form the UFC to sign with strike force or bodog and watch them grow. Yeah pride had good fighters but alot of the people that buy these PPV didnt even know anything about them. I think Tito moves on and others will follow. I mean the UFC doesnt pay the fighters shit and if somebody else steps up they will have some competition then.

First off, it would take way more than Tito Ortiz to make an org grow. He still has to have good fighters to fight.

Secondly, the UFC pays more than any of the other orgs now.

Thirdly, why would others follow one of the most disliked guys amoung his peers?

You should have thought before you posted in my opinion.

I will beat my ass that if Tito was on another pay per view the buys would go through the roof. The UFC might pay more now but they dont pay shit, like I said if soomebody else steps up. It doesnt matter if he is disliked or not if he shows there is more money to be made elswhere they will follow.

You need to think next time.

Tito is hardly the star he once was. He hasn't beat a legit contender in the LHW division recently and if he gets beat by RE his marketability will be a fraction of what it once was. Unfortunately for Tito, his power play with Dana and UFC never really netted him much of anything. He thinks he defines the UFC, but if he disappeared tomorrow and never fought again it wouldn't affect the UFC or the roll they are on.

Tito is a good talent and he'll always bring fans, but organizations are bigger than just one star. Not even Fedor can carry an entire promotion, just ask Bodog. These guys are fighters and want to prove themselves against the best, like Fedor. He knows the absorption of Pride into the UFC now makes the octogon the current proving ground.

Your right but there are way more people that dont know who Fedor is that buy UFC PPV than there are that do. Alot of people that watch the UFC think Tito is a god and have never seen his old fights they just buy into the hype. His old fights were aot better than any of the last 3 he has had. If you get a name like him into bodog it will turn more people on to it because they know him and in turn will get to know other fighters. People dont want to watch a card full of no names.

Which is why one big name star couldn't start a new org based solely on his name. There's no reason for fighters to leave the UFC right now.

who would follow? Fighters or fans?
I dont see any fighters following Tito if he left UFC.
Fighters want to have exposure on TV UFC have that.
I dont reallu think Tito is popular with other fighters he even bet against Rampages his friend in the Lidell fight, and he is ready to fight Rampage if the money is right.
Naw I really dont think fighters would follow Tito to another org.
Fans? I dont think too many people would abandon UFC to buy another ppv to watch tito fight.
Hes last 4 fights have been 3 against Ken S and a loss to Chuck.
Would you rather see tito fight some one in Bodog or get UFC 73-76?

i think the first thing other orgs need to do is cut the ppv prices to about $20. this will get a new fan base growing. after the fan base grows and becomes as well known as the ufc , then they could gradually raise the ppv prices.
