I think this is why they have the WEC, notice the WEC has a few lower weight classes yet not Heavyweight division. It also seems to be like the UFC's minor league, but I would say that it is entirely possible but that's the lowest I see them going. Anything less is too small of a fighter base and fight market..

There's so many popular boxers under 145 lbs. I don't see how there wouldn't be a market for lower weight class fighters. If there are enough talented boxers who can make the weight classes, then there will be plenty of good fighters in MMA.

I'd rather see smaller fighters. I think featherweight fights are a lot of fun to watch, especially compared to the slow HW fights we've been seeing lately.

That's what the WEC is for. It took them long enough just to get LW.

great idea!

if the featherweight fights are half as dynamic as the lightwieghts, the UFC would be ignorant not to capitalize on them

The general consensus was that they have too much going on right now, especially w/ the lightweight division opening up. PPV's only getting 1-2 fights per division as it is. It would make it difficult to get fan favorites if they only fight once every 6 months.
I think if they stopped with the 2 hours of promos at every PPV they could easily squeeze in 2-3 more fights, and even fit more fights onto the televised card.
