Fantasy Match: Bas Rutten vs. Randy Couture

If this match were to happen in 1999 I would have given the edge to Couture. Rutten struggled with guys like Kohsaka and Randleman before beating them, and I feel Couture (having victories over both of those fighters as well) would have never made the same mistakes they did.

Note we are talking 1999 here and not in the present.

Randy via entire fight of holding Bas down with weak GNP. Love Randy, but most of his fights put me to sleep.

Bas would have killed him if he would have been healthy. The thing is, Bas had a serious neck injury (at least i think it was the neck) in both of those fights. I think Bas would have won cause he was evolving a lot even that "late" in his career. Not that Randy didn't, I just think Bas was better.

Randy has fought several world class striker's in mma and defeated them all. Bas admitted several times in the past 7 years during broadcasts that he doesn't have a great takedown defense. Randy would have handled him just like he did all the others.

I'd bet Randy would take the fight if it was offered

He did say recently that he would come out of retirement for the "right" fight
