If stems from his early UFC days, he was 6-2-2 including 3 superfight wins over Severn, Oleg and Kimo. He just looked tough too, which helped with his popularity. Also the marketing including his stint with the WWF helped.
He was one of the first mma stars. Yea he was never that skilled if you want to compare him to what is out there now, but at the time he was pretty damn good.

I actually think he might be better then he used to be, but other fighters have gotten much better as the sport has evolved, but that's just my opinion.

Ken's hype > Ken's skill.
I think his legions of nuthuggers have jumped off the bandwagon the last couple of years, but there are still thousands of them.

The peope who like Ken either are/were WWF fans in the 90's or watched MMA back when Ken was one of the best in the sport. If you started to watch/follow MMA round 05'/Tuf era and haven't check up on MMA history you wouldn't know that Ken was once a beast. Check out the Ken HL I made in my sig, that might help. He was one of pioneers of the sport

No doubt he was once a beast. And no one can ever question his heart. His fighting pedigree is not questionable. I'm not a new fan by any means. He just makes such an ass of himself. So ill tempered and primative. He's a stud, just seems like a tool.
I don't mean he made Tito look good in the ring, I mean he made him look good out of the ring on TUF. I always thought Tito was a punk, but Ken made him look good.

The man, along with a couple of others, all single handedly pioneered MMA to where its at today. Thats like people hating Wayne Gretzky for no good reason. The man revolutionized the sport, and Ken did almost the same, he deserves his legendary status

Shamrock was so great he couldn't do anything with Royce, who he had what, 40 pounds on?
No disrespect to Royce, but Ken has been and always will be greatly, devastatingly overrated.
I guess the guy is broke and needs to keep getting his ass handed to him to eat. No self-respect whatsoever.

Sure, he is a legend. No argument there. He just acts like such a jerk.
