Explain Ken Shamrock to me
I don't understand. So many people love him. This is a guy who managed to take Tito Ortiz (who previously I couldn't stand) and make him not only look good, made him look somewhat admirable. Ken is just such a meathead. I'm not trying to bash him, I just don't understand the appeal. Anyone have answers?

Ken should have stayed away from MMA after he went to the WWF, or he should have called it quits around or after the Frye fight or after the first Tito fight imo.
The peope who like Ken either are/were WWF fans in the 90's or watched MMA back when Ken was one of the best in the sport. If you started to watch/follow MMA round 05'/Tuf era and haven't check up on MMA history you wouldn't know that Ken was once a beast. Check out the Ken HL I made in my sig, that might help. He was one of pioneers of the sport

Are you a new fan? Alot of old fans love him for what he did for MMA. Alot of others love him for his WWE run. Then again alot of people love him because he never backed down.(not intentional)
Shamrock is all heart with little 'MMA' skill. He shouldn't be hated, he has done nothing to earn hate. He does what he loves doing, people shouldn't hate on him for that.

Ken Shamrock was a pioneer in the UFC. He was one of the originals. While everybody loved the Gracies I was always a Ken, P Smith and Kimo fan.
He did a lot for the sport. Before most people were watching the UFC he kept this small organization a float.
I guess a lot of people pay homage to him for that reason. And a lot of people talk smack about him because they dont know the history.
I remember waiting for the Royce and Shamrock superfight.

Ken was good in his time, but that was when the sport was new and hadn't evolved at all. IMO he gets too much credit. I know he was a pioneer of the sport, but I was never really impressed by him as much as I was unimpressed by the guys he fought not including a few such as Gracie, Bas, and Smith. He did do a lot for the sport though and was fighting at a time where it wasn't the cool thing to do. He is def a legend, but not one of the greatest fightest of all time.

Excuse my bitch post, people liked him because of his heart, original accomplishments early in the game, and his history in professional wrestling. I respect him, I just hate seeing him get tooled so bad by cans these days, it's a shame, doesn't give him justice. He's not that great anyways, but he didn't use to be THAT bad.
