Diego Sanchez has showed no signs of slowing down after he defeated Kenny Florian to win the UFC’s first ever Ultimate Fighter contract in April of 2005. Since that fight, he has won three straight fights in the UFC and shows no signs of slowing down. But winning is nothing new for Sanchez. With a record of 15-0, losing is not an option. Later on this month, Sanchez will have his toughest challenge to date when he takes on Karo Parisyan at Ultimate Fight Night. According to what Diego told ADCC News, it’s another challenge he is ready for.
ADCC: Diego we last saw you fight John Alessio at UFC 60 in May earlier this year. How difficult was that fight for you that it seemed like you were trying to engage as much as possible but you opponent was always looking to counter? DIEGO: Yes, he didn’t want to mix it up at all. It was frustrating. Now a win is a win and when I can finish, it's even better.
ADCC: This was your second straight fight to go to a decision, and only the third in your whole career. Are you disappointed when you don't finish a fight but win? DIEGO: With every fight I get more pressure but in the end it is just another fight.
ADCC: You have 15-0 record including a four fight win streak in the UFC. How much pressure is it for you to continue to maintain your undefeated streak? DIEGO: I go into every fight prepared to win.
ADCC: In your soon future, you will be facing Karo Parisyan at UFC's Ultimate Fight Night in August. Is this your toughest test yet? DIEGO: This will be my toughest fight by far but our styles match up very well for me.
ADCC: How is training coming along? DIEGO: I am training hard and very focused, it's coming along well. I feel great. With great trainers like Greg Jackson and Rob Garcia, I am blessed.
ADCC: With his judo and more than half of your victories coming by submission, is it safe to say that this fight will be mostly spent on the ground? DIEGO: Not if I have any thing to do with it, I want to stand.
ADCC: What can we expect from Diego Sanchez on August 17, 2006? DIEGO: You can expect a knockout!.
ADCC: If you are victorious over Parisyan, will you be ready for a shot at the UFC welterweight title? DIEGO: I will be ready for whatever I have to do.
ADCC: People are already calling you "The Champion" all over the internet, what do you think about this? DIEGO: They can see the future, just like me, its inevitable.
ADCC: Thanks for the time Diego, do you anything to say to your fans or sponsors? DIEGO: I want to thank all my fans; they are my greatest source of inspiration. I also want to thank Xyience, Tapout, the US Military and troops, The Safe Surfing Foundation 'www.safesurfinusa.org' and Sheriff Mike Brown for allowing me to be a spokesperson for such a worthy cause. We can't say enough for those young guys that are risking their lives for our freedom and we can't do enough to protect our children.
IMO: This fight will go down just like the Leben vs Rivera fight with Diego in Lebens Position...
