*Exclusive* Yves Lavighe live radio interview in French with translation.

Ok, with all these threads popping about Yves Lavigne's late comments, I thought I should post a live interview he made on august 31st on CKAC radio station (Montreal). Of course, the interview is in French so I will post the original French interview with a translation. Here's the link to the interview for those of you who can speak French:

-Yves Lavigne - CKAC SPORTS 730AM

I only translated the relevant part:
(Starts at 5:10)
Quote:
*translation*

Quote:
Lavigne: "If we care to analyze the tools that Koscheck will bring against Georges, we don't have the same kind of experience, not at all. Koscheck is an Olympic level wrestler who has won tons of medals in Wrestling: he also was NCAA champion, good for him, it's big in the USA and he's good at it. He was also taught how to boxe, how to utilize his hands and feet and he does it quite well. He found a new talent for himself. The talent is not on the same scale as Georges' talent: George, in his first meeting with Koscheck, has been able to dominate him in his strongest asset: Wrestling. He beat him at his own game. Today, which one a evolved the most? I say it's Georges St-Pierre because Georges has the humility to go all around the world to get himself shaken up against opponents that are better than him in each facet of fighting." (...)
What is interesting in this interview is that we can see Yves largely favors St-Pierre. He didn't say anything about Koscheck being afraid to stand up against Georges. He did say that Koscheck's last fight against Daley was boring and dull (plate et ennuyant) at the beginning of the interview (before I start quoting) but then stops the interviewer (Gabriel Grégoire) when he says GSP is boring to tell him that GSP's last fight was technical and besides, GSP find himself boring when he's not able to finish a fight.

I always had the uttermost respect for Yves Lavigne and, judging from the content of this interview, I see no reason to change my mind. Yves is an astute judge of character and he knows his thing. I'm sure the leaked interview that got so much hype was just a transcript of this one with added "punch lines" to get some attention.

If some of you REALLY care about the whole interview, I can translate it all. It's about 7 minutes long so I wont do it until tomorrow. I will only do it if enough of you ask for it. Honestly, there is not much more interesting stuff in it, I already translated the most interesting part.

I'm anxious to read what you think about this...

The initial story came out of Le Journal de Montréal/Canoe.com (now removed from their site). I think that's the one he denied.

The Interview posted above was done on CKAC radio, which is a major player in the sports scene coverage here.

Metal_daze may have a point about this interview possibly having been skewed by other sources.

That's not Yves Lavigne.

Ed: yes it , I stand corrected

I've heard Yves speak French on several occasions, including in person. Not only is the sound of the voice different, they also speak different. This cat on the air speaks a more low brow French Canadian sprinkled generously with colloquialisms, which is common. I can't see Yves using expressions like "full pin". The guy is a high powered consulting accountant and he speaks like one. In other words, Yves speaks like Lorenzo and the guy on the air speaks like Dana.

So Koschek can shut his piehole now. I wonder what Yves' lawyers will be be able to do. He may get a nice payday from the radio station from this.
