How does Keith Jardine only make $10,000 for UFC 84?
I just can't believe this. Jardine got the same as Terry Etim, $8000 less then Wilson Gouveia who he has beat. This man beat Chuck and Forest and he only gets $10,000 am I missing something or does anyone else think this is just crazy.

Watch the post-fight press conference, Dana was asked if it was fair that Jardine only made 10k. He said Jardine made more than 10k. They asked him how much and he said he wasn't going to tell them no matter how many times they ask. While he wants people to believe its about privacy for the fighters, it's really about keeping the upper-hand in future contract negotiations with fighters.
But the point still remains, the athletic commission figures don't mean much at all. It was reported that Franklin made something like $30k for his title defense against Anderson. Meltzer later reported him making somewhere around $250k for the fight. Couture supposedly only made $250k for his fight with Sylvia, according to the commissions. It was later revealed he made in upwards of $1.6 million. Monte Cox said on Sherdog radio that the bigtime UFC cards' payroll is really closer to $4-$5 million. In short, don't believe everything you read.
Not to mention sponsorships for UFC fighters are a big part of their income, especially main card guys like Sherk.

It is only Jardine's 8th fight in the UFC, with no real consistency. Beat Forrest, defeated by Houston, beat Chuck, defeated by Wandy.
He needs a long run of wins to get a good contract on his next renegotiation.
Jardine wasn't a TUF winner nor had a good record before the show. I am sure he took the 10k a fight just to stay in the UFC, most guys would, because it allows them to get a lot o income from sponsors which they can't anywhere else.
If he manages to bounce back and show he can be more than agatekeeper, he will have a big contract when he is up for renewal.
here it is a good analysis on fighter pay. More money than meets the eye in the UFC - MMA - Yahoo! Sports

Sorry, but non UFC supplied bonuses and sponsorships don't make up for it. That'd be like paying a waitress a quarter an hour and telling her "tough shit, but you get tips".
In comparison to other UFC fighters it's still weak anyways.
