PRIDE didn't allow elbows, so in a lot of peoples minds, that means that elbows are bad since PRIDE is 100% infallible {insert sarcasm}
so just as stated before, it comes down to people just hating the UFC

elbows are usually just short glancing blows that dont leave you open to being swept or submitted... BUT these same fighters also never seem to try and better their position because its so easy to control someone and use an OCCASIONAL elbow.
you act like people who use elbows are throwing them in combos like fedor lol... do you also like it when fighters clinch people against the fence but dont deliver any strikes or takedown attempts?

Your sig is proof of Threat_signal's statement that this opinion against elbows is just hate from the PRIDE nuthuggers.

There are guys in King of the Cage who make entire careers off having fights stopped on cuts. The amount of fights stopped on elbow cuts is HUGE in MMA.
Look beyond the UFC, because believe it or not, there is MMA outside of the UFC. Stop worshiping at the feet of Dana White for a second and think outside the Octagon.

Show the stats for your opinion. Then we can talk about it.
PS: I looked at all of the King of the Cage event results listed on FF for this yea. That was 11 events with 133 fights. Not a single one of the results were listed as doctor stoppage and/or cuts.

They should allow knees to the head on the ground but leave soccer kicks and stomps out because the only time they work is when the opposing fighter is already hurt and it makes the sport look bad.

That sounds really stupid to me. Since there are fighters losing to cuts from striking and knees, why should elbows be a special case? That just sounds stupid to me. Then you say that if a cut occurs the fighter should be allowed to continue. That is so stupid it makes me question if you were quillty of PWD (posting while using drugs). The fighters are already are allowed to fight with a cut as long as it doesn't cause a problem with vision or the blood loss becomes really serious. Either way it would be too dangerous to allow the fight to continue and could result in serious injury to the fighter. That is why it is stopped when either of those two happen. Saying that they should be allowed to continue when the fighter can't see or when he has lost enough blood to be life threatening is just plain stupid.

It's alright for mma fans to say elbows should be kept in, because it's more like a real fight. I'm of the opinion that those people should participate in mma an eat a few elbows and see how they feel after. Until they do that their opinion doesn't mean squat to me.

Please show the survey of actual fighters that says they want elbows taken out. Other wise, you are just spouting more empty BS.

No he didn't. Did you? Can you name some fights that this happened?

Very impressive research. I would hate to see them go, it keeps the guy on the bottom moving.

These are just the people iv'e seen asked about it. I'm sure if a poll was taken, the vast majority of fighters would prefer Pride rules. Their opinions are the ones that count afterall.
|
You take the stated opinions of three fighters out of probably a thousand or more plus one of dozens of commentators and that means the general consensus of fighters want elbows to be taken out??? That is really stupid. Especially since two of the fighters were in PRIDE at the time and maybe that caused them to make such a statement?
Also where is the source for them saying this? I don't remember them making the statement. I am not calling you a liar, but you should provide some evidence for the statements you make.
