That's what I thought as well. But I'm sure both Silvas will be looking for them when in close. You know they love a clinch.

What about rising elbows? Like like elbow uppercuts?

elbows are effective in a clinch. you have to be careful who you're fighting against, because if striking is what you're good at, and the other guy is a ground specialist, you have avoid the takedown, and by setting up to throw elbows you could be jeopardizing the clinch and make yourself vulnerable to be taken down. but yeah, i think those chutebox guys will use elbows like there's no tomorrow. watching shogun or wandy, who are ridiculously vicious, throw elbows in the ufc will be incredible. i hope chuck realises what he's up against. when he's not eating elbows, he'll be eating knees. chuck, take your pick.

They're allowed. The only elbows that aren't allowed are elbow points directly pointing downward toward the head.

Cool, that's what I assumed.

Basically, Goodridge elbows are no longer allowed, correct? I believe that's a decent way to sum up the situation.

I think they are under-utilized. Loiseau is the only guy I can think of who uses them regularly.

I'm surprised more people don't elbow to the liver, when they're in-fighting.
