tipical striker vs. striker, even though one is a straight forward puncher and the other more of a counter puncher... felt Wand was a bit less agressive than in the past... wouldve been interesting to see this match happen 3-4 years ago

i was pretty drunk, but to me it looked like chuck was gonna ko him if it went two more rounds. But silva could have still got a wild flurry... Who knows.

I think all this "gameplan" talk gets overblown. For the last few years, Wand's gameplan hasn't changed. He's taken most of his muay thai game out and he's chosen to just stand there flatfooted and throw bombs. Watch the Nakamura fights. Watch the Fujita fight. Watch the Cro Cop fight. Watch the Henderson fight. He just stands there and throws nothing but sloppy hooks. That'll work against guys who have awful standup and just stand right in front of Wanderlei. But against a guy who knows how to time punches like Chuck does, Wand will almost always lose. It wasn't quite as devastating as the 2nd Cro Cop fight, but that's just because Mirko has the brutal LHK to finish him that Chuck didn't have.

Wand's career is in serious trouble now. His hands have actually gotten worse over the years. And now that he's slowed down a little bit, it'll be easier for opponents to time their punches. Wand's defense for strikes is REALLY bad. Unless he remembers how to utilize the clinch again and work his knees, he's gonna be in for a rough time in the UFC. This isn't the 2003/2004 Silva anymore.

I noticed that too! I wonder why?

See I want to say the same thing. But Chuck was taking the cardio out of that fight. Chuck had him hurt several times. And Wandy cardio wouldn't have mattered a bit. Chuck was more active. But he was landing some mean punches. I think chuck would have been alright. He would have went for a few more take downs and then he could have layed on him to regain his breath. I said it during the fight. Chuck will be in trouble come the 3rd round. He did take a minute off. But what's so bad about that. He was throwing a ton of punches. I think anyone would have been tired after that.

Wand is one of my favorite fighter, but you my friend are correct.

I'd like to see that fight again in a Five rounder, Thats when you seem to get the best of Wand. He wears his opponents out and then.. we know the end. But he did seem tired by the end of that fight, Either that or he was a little rocked. Great fight

Liddell's and Wandi's styles are similiar.

Problem is when you match them up Liddell has the reach on wandi which automatically gives him the advantage with how they fight since they are both sluggers pretty much.

I thought wandi had a good straight jab followed by a straight right hand that seemed to get in on Liddell pretty good. Problem is Wandi doesn't like throwing straight punches and when you have shorter arms that is just going to create more problems for you with the reach disadvantage especially against a good straight puncher like liddell.

A lot of times when I have seen Wandi get nailed with a punch during his career it's usually when he is throwing looping punches and someone throws a straight punch getting that extra inch on him and ends up nailing him, i.e. Rampage, Hendo, Cro cop, Liddell.
