i was hopeing they would meet to fight for the belt...but the way it might turn out.... is them
fighting to get the #1 spot....what do you think.

Sounds good to me. The only problem is if Arlovksi wins and then beats Mir and Sylvia wins this Saturday. I don't think people are interested in seeing Arlovski/Sylvia 4.

I don't think that's how it's going to go down unless Sylvia actually loses to Monson.

On the other hand, I think Mir-Vera will be a number one contender's match of sorts. Arlovski will wait in the wings and fight for the belt as soon as Sylvia is no longer champion. I think he'll dispose of Monson easily as long as he keeps it standing up. Mir or Vera are the only other two heavyweights in the UFC who could realistically take the belt off Sylvia besides Arlovski. Granted, this is MMA and anything could happen, but I don't think Brad Imes, Carmello Marrero, or Cheick Kongo are going to contend for a championship any time soon.

I see Sylvia beating the winner of Mir-Vera and then the UFC's only other option would be to bring in someone from the outside that is already established (can anyone say Aleksander Emelianenko?)
