Diego Sanchez Wants Hughes

MMAWeekly TV caught up with Diego Sanchez and talked to Diego a little about his fight against Karo Parisyan last week at UFC Fight Night in which he won. And, not only did he win but it put him in MMAWeekly’s Top 5 Welterweights behind Hughes, St. Pierre, and BJ Penn. About the fight against Parisyan, Diego said, “ I wanted it more, fought with more heart.” He also mentioned one of his coaches, Rob Garcia, saying,”He’s the best strength conditioner coach in the world”.

Diego is setting his sites on the championship and the man holding the belt- Matt Hughes. Diego said ,“…when it’s time to fight for the title, it’s time to fight for the title.” Opening up further he said, “I tell you this gut feelings been with me for awhile about fighting Matt Hughes, probably about like since 10 of my fights back when I fought Mike Guymon in Vegas. Hughes was cornering him. I beat Guymon, I looked down at Hughes and ever since I caught eyes with him it’s been my dream and my destiny to go in there an challenge the shampion and beat the champion and go in there and knock him out.”

why wouldnt any up and comer want the champion? it should be your number 1 goal and im happy to see that it pushes diego to hopefully get to that level.

those that obsess about winning or the championship often get their hands on it. you need to be crazy devoted

After Hughes Diego goes for Fedor and then the President of the USA. Then he declares war on the rest of the world and wins offcourse.

my god imaguine if diego beat hughes, the dieago nuthuggers and TUF'ers would be out of control and this would be the end of serious intelligent MMA discuttion in sherdog.
my god

anyhow diego would get smashed against hughes, country beakfast is just one of the best fighters ever known in contact sports.

If diego has that much desire for the champioship, it very possible for him to hughes. But im sure it will also push hughes more to want to beat diego

Diego has a legitimate chance at beating Matt Hughes IMO, we as fans have to remember two things. Diego Sanchez is undefeated and is Fedor Emelianenko's Trainning partner.
