Dana has connection with tons of ppl so yes he would be able to bring elite to a new level, not to the level of the ufc but better than the guys hwo ran it into the ground im sure.

The control thing was part of it, but that wasn't the only problem.

Elite had a deal with CBS, IFL had a deal with My Network. Neither of those deals made money.

If the deal isn't going to pay you a lot of money, and they want to change your product, what's the point?

Just kidding. You are partly right- Dana and the UFC did get really lucky, especially with the Bonnar/Griffin fight, but sometimes in business, thats just how it goes. However, that was just the beginning, and to be able to keep the UFC growing so fast for 5 years, there is some actual business acumen involved, be it by Dana or the Fretittas.

Dana White didn't come up with the idea of TUF. Whe the idea was mentioned he was against it all the way to the final when it struck gold. Like the fans who didn't watch it he was sceptical. After the finale he praised it like everyone else. Don't give the guy credit for someone else's idea that he didn't even like or stand by untill it actually worked. Before TUF the UFC was a struggling company. Nothing White did helped it. He's just the face of the organisation, a spokesperson, not a guy who actually comes up with any profitable ideas.

I used to love Dana when he was turning that mess around. I always spoke well of him.

But his ego is completely out of control and he needs to go.

He goes sue crazy against Couture for not completing his contract, but then fires guys at will when they have 2 fights left on their contracts. He gives NO respect and openly bad mouths any fighter who doesn’t fight for his org no matter how obvious their skills. He has already cost the UFC what could’ve been an incredible HWT division by losing 3 top 10 fighters in Sylvia, Werdum, and AA. Not to mention his big mouth burned the bridge with Fedor's management and deprived us all of many HWT matchups that we all wanted to see. Now Fitch, another top 10 fighter, is getting cut because he wouldn't agree to a LIFETIME giveaway on his likeness, and Kos, also a top 10 fighter, may be on the way out too because Dana is going power crazy and banning entire teams all at once.

That’s 4, to maybe 5 top ten fighters that he has lost or let go due to his ego and insane contract demands; and another fighter, the best HWT in the world, who’s management walked away after Dana gave them no respect.

What the fuck?....

At this rate, 4 to 6 years from now when another promotion, whether it be Affliction or someone else, has as many good fighters as the UFC, and has equal or better PPV numbers than the UFC, we will all be talking about how Dana's ego ended up costing the UFC the empire.
