Cut Question

Sorry for posting this here but I don't have post ability in the 'ask the fighters' forum. I'm still a relative newbie to MMA and every time I ask this question I get a variety of answers so I hope maybe someone here can make sense of it.

Why are some cuts on the face considered career ending? Some look tiny and you'll hear announcers say 'yeah it looks small but those are the possible career enders'. While you see other fighters get HUGE slices where you can see underlying muscle and bone and they are fine. I've heard everything from scar tissue, to nerve damage, to there is no such thing as a career ending cut. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't ever heard of a cut being career ending...

I don't recall any career ending cuts, but it's all about the eyes. A tiny cut in the corner of the eye or on the eyelid is far more dangerous than a large gash in the cheek or forehead.

Eye cuts are always possible career enders. Also cuts on the epidermis.

Because they re-open easily if they are too deep

cuts are considered "career ending" when they will probably form scar tissue if not immediately tended too. if scar tissue develops on these cuts, they will be easily reopened and usually leak blood into the eyes of the fighter, making him blind and defenseless.

Doesn't the epidermis cover the entire face and body?

Yeah so if you cut your entire epidermis you wouldn't have any skin left to hold your organs in dumbass.

The biggest organ is your skin.
