Cro Cop vs. Josh Barnett 1 (first match)

Hi, just downloaded the first match betweeen Cro Cop and Barnett (Pride 28), but the audio was in Japanese. Wondering if anyone has more details on the stoppage... looks like Barnett tore/pulled something in his upper torso and tapped while on top due to injury. Was this injury pre-existing, and how bad was it? (he didn't fight again until a year later, the rematch) Thanks!

it was a real freak shoulder injury. If you slow down the fight it looks like Josh's arm gets caught in CroCop's leg when he is bringing it back from kicking

im not positive as to what it was, but i know he was injured, for some reason i want to say shoulder injury but i cant really remember... as you can see from the second fight it didnt really make a difference cro cop still ate him alive

Most say seperated shoulder. IE seperating the ball and socket joint from the clavical(sp). But it was a freak unintentional injury.

Crocop via dec. = guess the Cop's a slow eater. (I'm not saying Barnett wasn't shut down tho).

Also, freak injuries aren't so rare when you're either on roids or have used em.

ya i remember watching the dvd, and replaying it over and over, but not seeing any injury. the same with the hendo fight. he fought a japanese fighter (forgot the name) but hendo went for a throw, and when he landed something happened to his oponent and he verbally tapped. wierd that it happens on the same card. i think the fights were back to back too if i remember correctly

He separated or dislocated his shoulder; I don't remember which. Josh himself said he got his arm caught up funny with Mirko's leg, at the point where Josh rushed in under a Mirko high kick. If you watch the slo-mo replay you can kind of see what he is talking about, but it's not like you can clearly say "oh, that's where it popped out" or anything. You can just see his arm get caught up with one of Mirko's legs, and get twisted a bit; then they fall to the mat and Josh was pretty much done, tapping soon after.

Go the FAQ and there's a link in there to a thread that has a slow mo .gif of where he dislocated his left shoulder. His arm got caught under Mirko's leg after Mirko threw a high kick and Josh ducked it and rushed em. His arm twisted outwards in a weird motion so that his shoulder popped.
