Congrats and LOL at Mo Smith
Lots of respect to both Smith and Ruas for getting in the ring at their age. Marco seems to fall apart and gas in later rounds in both their fights(of course there was the knee issue in the 1st match).
They are both legend of MMA.
But Smith is on some serious crack to think he is the best striker in MMA>
He forgets there are other guys in MMA who have been in K-1)Crocop, Hunt, JLB, Aerts).
He also forget how bad he did in K-1.
Mo you "are" a bad old man but there are probably 10 guys at HW at least who can outstrike my man.
But for now until Rickson or Bas has anything to day you are the 2nd baddest over 40 yrs fighter in MMA behind Randy.
Congrats again.

He mentioned CC in an interview as to say he's a better striker. And I think he's talking about striking in MMA and not K-1. Mo Smith might be the best MMA striker because he actually has a very tough ground game. It allows him to strike without restriction because he knows people can't hurt him if they take him down.

I don't know if they really are legends though..I mean, Gracie, Couture, Hughes, Liddell, those guys would really be legends since at a time they were number 1, and for quite a long time.
While ruas and smith...were they ever that dominant?

His exact quote (from Sherdog.com's mani page):
Quote:
|
"Talking about pure striking, nobody in this business, from our guys here in the IFL to PRIDE guys or UFC guys will beat me in striking," declared the decorated kickboxer. "Keep in mind when I say that, it only refers to striking, not MMA."

Dude has 5 legit TKO's in 19 fights.
His record is 10-9.
And no he was never dominant. He had his 15 minutes because he was the first person with a harder head than Coleman so Coleman's ground and headbutt game was nullified.
Once Coleman was forced to fight for more than 5 min he gassed and Smith won but in underwhelming fashion.
