Even the Computer has its fav fighters such as Couture and does not take any points off for the losses he has where as the computer hates GSP and takes 250 points off from his only loss. Who the hell is carlos Condit anyway? has he fought fighters like Sherk, Hughes, Triggs, GSP and Serra yet??
worse then BCS

If you didn't notice guys like Silva, Rua, Arona, Antonio Rog Nog and others either lost or didn't compete so why would they be in the top 10??

And where the hell is BJ Penn? he is not even ranked?
what a waste rating

8. Hermes Franca - 100 pts

Record: 1-1
Wins: Spencer Fisher(Top 20) via TKO - 35 pts
Losses: Sean Sherk(Top 5) via Dec - (-25) pts

35-25 is 10 NOT 100 pts. What a piece of shit

That's basically just the "hottest" fighters of the year but it rewards you for consistently fighting more than anything else...

I guess it has some merit, but not as a rankings....

wow
i guess i shouldn't be surprised
but ppl here are real fucking morons
they can't even read the title properly....it DOES clearly say the ranking only applies for the year 2007. i'm seriously shaking my head and wondering how the education system has failed us so miserably.

oh and the "math" problem that ppl are bitching about? its a typo, idiots. use a little logic.....daley's win against top20 ludwig is worth more than the 35 points that is listed.

also, a lot is explained in the original post. which probably no one else read.

jeezus fucking dumb shits.....its so embarrassing....

personally i think its a pretty good system. a couple things i have issues with. as pointed out by TS and others, the top 5/10/20 ranking that its originally based on is still subjective so this isn't completely bias-free. also the weight given to wins vs top 5/10/20 seems to be arbitrary too. i can offer no solutions. i believe the TS originally took the rankings from sherdog rankings....which is ok....i don't know if it would be better to take a bunch of different ranking sources (mmaweekly for one...i don't know who else does them) and then average them out. but that would create a mess. i'm curious to see how a 2006-2007 list would look like, or even as far back as 2000-2007.

overall, GOOD JOB TS, and i hope to see more stuff like this! i prefer this stuff way more than "SERA WILL DSTROY TEH GSP!!!" or "ZOMG PRID RULZ" shit threads that i see out there...

Coputer Generated Ranks can be more accurate than 99% of human rankings if the proper data is used. Unfortunatly you have not used the proper data. You aren't calculating nearly enough info. Basing Nog's rank off 1 fight because when he is obviously more accomplished is just bad math and incomplete. In order to get an accurate computer generated rank you must input every fight that has ever happened in MMA. There is no way to tell the value of a win today without knowing the wins of yesterday.

The WW rankings alone give this no credibility
